Things can get complicated…

When you’ve been doing something for a long time, its not a bad idea to take a step back, look around yourself and ask a hard question, “Why?”

For us, that ‘why’ looked a lot like this:

Why are we doing theatre? Why are we so stressed? Why do we feel like some of the magic has gone? Why can’t we just do shows we love because we’re excited to do them? No, really… Why not?

Why not just get some funds together and then invite our favorite local artists to come make theatre with us; for no other reason than we just want to do it? Do we really need a mission statement? A board of directors? A complete season? A grant writer? A media coordinator? A managing artistic director? An annual fundraiser? An outreach plan? Heck, even a theatre company in the first place? Sometimes the answer to those questions was yes, sometimes no. But after we took a hard look at what we were doing versus what drew us to this craft in the first place, we realized that more than anything, we wanted to use our artistiry to make theatre we were excited about, and to share it with our community.

So, that’s what we’re gonna’ do. Starting now.
