OUR TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

The goal of training in any art form, including the theatre, should be a steady and rewarding improvement in our skills alongside an increased capacity for insight, reverence, joy, and curiosity about the world around us.

Our job as teachers is to improve the technique, expand the knowledge, and foster an appreciation of the craft in our students, so that they leave with a more well developed toolkit of skills, as well as a deeper understanding and respect for the art that they practice.

We are committed to providing a supportive and creatively compelling atmosphere that encourages students to further develop their existing talents and explore previously untapped capabilities.

We believe that everyone can benefit from theatre education. Whether you have never stepped foot on stage, or have been treading the boards for decades, an acting class can provide exposure to a new avenue of self expression, or give you the opportunity to revitalize your passion for the art. In every case, our highly tailored instruction style is guaranteed to improve your capabilities as a theatre artist.

Our instructors each have more than a decade of production and theatre education experience to their credit. They are working artists, with a passion for the craft and a desire to see theatre arts flourish in our community.

Our training style draws from multiple approaches to the craft of acting. We utilize the theory and training techniques of Stanislavsky, Brecht, Artaud, Grotowski, Brook, Meissner, Spolin, The American Music and Dramatic Academy, and The Group Theatre, among others. We do not believe in or teach a singular "system" of acting. Rather, we provide students with a diverse array of skills through the introduction of classical and contemporary techniques, physical and vocal training, exercises, and script work to create a well rounded artist-performer, capable of approaching any project from multiple creative points of entry.
